Exhibitions
We can't wait for exhibitions in person in not too long! In the meantime, though, here are some exhibitions you can enjoy from home, online:

In the North-East
Durham University's 'Durham Digitale'  have teamed up with Petra Szeman for a project, funded by Research England, entitled 'Vug'. It is a digital arts project based on the museum's collection of 'spar boxes (Victorian folk art made by miners). Amana's interview with Petra about the project will be available soon on the Loop blog, but for the time being check out the project, which is available online here

You can also have a look at Petra's work here

Art galleries and museums are set to open from 17th May, according to the Covid-19 roadmap laid out by the UK government. Keep an eye out for our next newsletter, in 4 weeks time, which will give more info on the opening of art galleries and museums in the North East from 17th May. We are so excited to see art in person again, finally!

Podcast Pick
Art History Babes
A recent discovery we've made and LOVE is @arthistorybabespodcast. Their motto - LIFE IS SHORT ART IS LONG - sums up the value of their show; when you're busy and under pressure it can feel like there is no space in your life (or brain) for the stuff that you love learning about but just don't have the time to invest in. This podcast reminds us that art can be digestible, fun, challenging and relevant. Each episode is around 1hr long, so it's a great thing to put on while you're cooking or to perhaps dip into throughout the day, on a run or a walk.

The hosts are a collective of four women who discuss art in a way that is accessible, honest yet also informed - you'll come away feeling like your brain is a bit bigger and you have something meaningful to add to the next pub conversation you go to (because yes, we can go to pubs now!).

Listen here now.

...And that's a wrap!

Thank you for browsing our first edition of the DUAS Loop, keep up to date with our Facebook and Instagram for more updates, and be sure to check out our latest interview with Janet Rogers from Crushed Chilli Gallery here. In a couple of week's time we are publishing an interview with Petra Szeman, an artists involved in a project with Durham Digitale and the Killhope Lead Mining Museum - keep a look out!
