Artistic Insight…

An introduction to Flora Yukhnovich

For March, in anticipation of the glorious spring weather I hope is to come, this newsletter will introduce the up-and-coming artist Flora Yukhnovich. Known for her light-hearted, pastel interpretations of Rococo-style paintings, Yukhnovich has become one of the fresh faces in the art world that many are raving about.

Born in Norwich, Yukhnovich did a diploma and post-diploma in portraiture at Heatherley School of Fine Art between the years 2010-13 then went on to complete an MA in Fine Art at the City & Guilds of London Art School in 2016-17. After these years in education she was propelled full throttle into the years of success she is currently experiencing. She has had two solo exhibitions; at the Parafin Gallery, London in 2017 and at the Victoria Miro Gallery, Venice in 2019 both of which were instrumental in establishing her prestige in the art world. It is off the back of these successful shows that she has obtained a great public interest and has sold works extremely well at auction. Her most lucrative piece to date is I’ll Have What She’s Having, sold at Sotheby’s for £2.3million in October 2021, when the estimated value was £60,000-£80,000.

Due to the how contemporary her work is, there is little more information about her easily accessible. However, it seems as if she is only just beginning her rise to prestige, with more exciting projects coming her way. In July this year, she is participating in the Ashmolean NOW programme which will feature exciting works by prominent early to mid-career artists. Whilst exhibiting their own works, the programme has also encouraged the participating artists to create an original work inspired by the museum and/or its collections. I’m personally looking forward to seeing what she creates and what her future in the art world has in store for us.

That's all for this month, thank you for reading!
